Why do smokers of all kinds have to smoke right in front of the door of every fucking building?

At my apartment buulding they stand right in front of the no smoking sign at the front step to the building on the building’s property where smoking is not allowed. If they stabd 5 ft over, they’re on the sidewalk where it’s okay.

But nope, they have to stand right there.

I remember when they did it INSIDE buildings. And cars. Schools, hospitals… if you lived through the 80’s you just have the pervasive smell of tobacco registered as a prime core memory.

I use to live in Vegas as a child occasionally. We’d sometimes go to the casinos for shows and have to cross The Floor

Because that tiny overhang is the only goddamn shade/rain shelter in this entire city block. People love designating “that spot over there” as the smoking spot but hate putting any sort of shelter from the elements.

So? Whoever brought the cigarettes should bring a jacket or umbrella too.

That spot “over there” is so the smelly smoke can also stay “over there” and not end up in the lungs of healthy people.

Bro, Imma be honest, as a nicotine addict, I wouldnt encourage anyone get on it. You start seeing nicotine as a stimulant that you “need” to get through difficult tasks, or tasks that need focus, or shit, maybe you even need to game a bit better because you’re sleep deprived(caused by the nicotine) and having an extra stimulant alongside some caffeine might help. You start using it to get through stuff, and then because of withdrawals, that “”“”“justifies”“”“” your use of it to get through stuff even more. Not to mention nicotine’s bad effects on your gum health and cardiovascular health.

By the way, for anyone reading this, fuck vaping. Harder to quit than smoking because a lot of people get nicotine salt disposables, or their mental process when in withdrawal/craving phase is “oh it’s just vapor, not smoke which is carcinogenic, one more hit couldn’t hurt”. Which is true, smoke, tar, combustion, etc is the main cancer causing part of nicotine, but thinking of it like that doesn’t help you quit.

Don’t smoke, don’t vape. Longest I’ve lasted is a month so far, and that’s because I threw my little nic salt pen and carts away.

Edit Addendum: Btw, this is typed by a mofo who is still vaping, I relapsed. I fell into that same line of logic above. “I need it to get through work” type shit

I have the exact opposite experience with vaping, but I realize anecdotal evidence is not admissible. I had been smoking roll-your-owns to save money and my use skyrocketed. Switched to a low % nicotine vape and just hit that for the next few years. When my daughter was born and I realized I wouldn’t be able to vape in the house anymore, I may as well have gone back to smoking, so I just stopped. Since I had been smoking that low % stuff, I wound up having no withdrawals at all and pretty much walked away unscathed. It can be a great tool for quitting if used responsibly.

I bring words of encouragement: Fuck yeah. Any hit you don’t take is a win, so keep at it!

I struggle with alcohol and I’m not gonna drink today again. Maybe skip a hit for a stranger on the internet, and the world’ll keep a couple lights a little longer.

Any place where you don’t force your smoke upon people who have no choice about being there. It’s not that hard: Don’t make your smoking anybody else’s problem.

Or, if this is more your style of communicating: Up your ass.

Every smoker I’ve met gets very defensive about “why can’t I breathe my toxic fumes on everyone else?? What’s the big deal?? And then they get so mad when I litter like get over yourself”

Smoking in public is indefensible. There are smoking cessation programs.

Agreed. Vaping on the other hand is fine and with how many people vape now thankfully not something anyone has any remaining institutional power to enforce a ban on, so glad I can puff on the train in peace now

The only fume here is the shit that comes out of your mouth. Get yourself a triple mango elf bar and chill tf out, vaping has been studied for 29 years and so far no issues have been found whatsoever if you vape normal regulated vape juice and not amerikkkan popcorn lung weed crap (eww weed).

Canadian here. Weed vapes are fine if they use safe ingredients. What you are on about is black market vape juice.

Edit: the ew weed means all your arguments against it are likely bad faith.
