I subscribed to all sorts of newsletters, and at least one was dinosaur specific. I would also write professors at local colleges with questions and usually get a response.

Also worked at the library and could order just about any book available. At that point most libraries would order books if they didn’t have them already.

But mostly newsletters and science journals until BBS became more common and user friendly when we first started having available computers.

Hoping to hear an answer to this.

As someone who saved literal cases of gaming mags from the 90s-00s I’m ready to part with them hoping someone else will go through the effort to scan them and make them available. I just don’t have the time or resources for that project and I’ve got a storage unit FULL of gaming gear that I need to empty. It’s hard enough to go through the games and hardware, I just want to get rid of the boxes and boxes ofabysls and magazines but I don’t want to trash them.

OMG I did not realize that was her. I just recently watched this for the first time and didn’t recognize her at all. But I’m not all surprised my favorite captain was also my favorite prisoner.

I did maintenance for a low income building. They would have me upgrade specific units so they could Airbnb them while they denied low income applications to keep those units empty. Disabled people who needed housing were denied because it was more profitable to leave it empty and rent it out to tourists a few times a month.

We also didn’t do maintenance on specific units in order to get tenants to move out. There was a specific unit that was given to new tenants that would routinely flood. They used it to get rid of people that complained too much. If you only complained a little and cooperated with their bs, you could eventually move to a unit that stayed dry all year.

Stihl typically does their own displays. You can’t mix other brands into their products. They have strict rules on pricing and promotion. If you don’t follow their rules, you can’t sell their products. If you go to any store that sells Stihl, you will find it set up in a similar fashion.

Here’s what makes me roll my eyes…

Most of the people making these comments won’t make a bit of effort in their own lives to make a difference for the planet and humans overall. Sure, recycling is still pretty messed up, but we can’t even get people to put trash in a bin. They certainly aren’t willing to consume less or put effort into creating less waste in the first place. And I’m willing to bet money that if they suddenly had a private plane and that kind of money they would be doing exactly the same thing.

It’s a ‘fuck you I got mine’ world, and most people are happily stepping on their neighbors hoping to get above the mass. I don’t know how to fix people, but if we can stop supporting the systems that are pushing us down that’d be a huge step in the right direction.

I’ve always felt that it wasn’t anyone’s business but my own and the person I want to touch. I don’t worry about putting myself in a box so I don’t wear a label.

Those that “need” to know are told that I am “independent”. What does that mean to me? It means I decide who I want to fool around with. Sex is more than just tabs and slots.

Although I have found that this answer is unacceptable to nearly everyone, so I can’t say I recommend it.

It’s SPD and WLCB, both like a good shakedown.

I ran a club for years and dealt with their bullshit often. Luckily I knew my local SPD so our checks were super easy. LCB didn’t like us though so when they decided to come by they would have a list of tickets to write up and if you didn’t know your RCWs front to back you’d have no choice but to accept the fines. (Much like police don’t know the laws they enforce, LCB agents don’t either.)

The shut down ones were usually Ladybug. They had different owner and different kind of staff. At cowgirl they had college coed and you paid a dollar or two more for your coffee and tipped well because they were super nice. The other place had skanky strippers on drugs, $20 coffee and you sometimes wondered if the coffee came with an STD.

Haven’t been to Seattle in years, I hear many didn’t survive.

Unfortunately the guy who owns Ladybug (same concept) has purchased most of the bikini coffee shops. It’s now WAY over priced and the quality of service is WAY lower. You’re more likely to get skanky stripper flashing than college coed flirt. Also apparently that guy is an asshole on many levels according to the girls. Many of them are closed now.

And this is Seattle. If you want to ogle a bikini girl your choices are these shops or Alki during our annual one-week heat wave when you don’t need to wear multiple layers.

She can have a regular owl like the rest of us.

A crack or chip in the porcelain. When they finally give way, they can be dramatic about it. It’s not uncommon at all and can happen while not in use. Temperature changes can trigger it as well.

Always replace a chipped or cracked toilet ASAP. Not worth the risk of mess or injury.

This is what I’m trying to get into. But only because I’m REALLY into it. Growing things requires learning which means doing things wrong, which means killing things. I’ve killed more plants than I have successfully raised. But I’ve learned a ton in my free time over the years and now I have some friends with property. Been working on one for two years now and about to go start a larger project on the other side of the country.

My point is that you don’t need land to “start”, nor do you need to be a green thumb type. So don’t let those hold you back.

You can garden anywhere. I did 2 years of gardening using free pallets and old buckets on a concrete parking spot in the city. It wasn’t exactly productive but I learned key things in the process and got to eat my labor occasionally.

It’s not easy, but if you’re interested you can start growing things almost anywhere.
