In it to spoil him
Fuck dynastic political families.
Someone explain to an EU pleb like me
Zohran is a radical socialist by American standards and Andrew is the poster boy for the rich and famous. Zohran won the democratic nomination for mayor of NY by a landslide, and looks poised to do the same with the election. Andrew is running as a third party because he’s butt hurt that money won’t save him.

And because the DNC wants to split the vote to send a lesson to anybody left of Kissinger.

KissingerFriedman.Ftfy
To an extent, sure, but surprisingly a lot of the DNC have backed him up. Give them credit where it’s due, which isn’t often so it doesn’t take much effort. If you give them shit for stuff they aren’t doing then they have no reason to not do the bad stuff, because it has the same result.
surprisingly a lot of the DNC have backed him up
You have any evidence of that?
Manhattan Democrats — the borough’s official Democratic organization, overseeing 30 local Democratic clubs — voted overwhelmingly to support Mamdani after he appeared at their meeting Monday evening. They are the third county Democratic group to endorse Mamdani, after the Brooklyn Democratic Party, which had previously endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the primary, and the Staten Island Democratic Party.
what does the N in DNC stand for?
Mayor
First I want to point out you aren’t asking for proof against it, but fine.
I can’t find exactly what I’m looking for, because Mamdani said “globalize the antifada,” but here’s the DNC chair not speaking against that at least. He’s said basically that Democrats need to support him no matter what before, but this is the big thing right now that’s making it hard to search for.
I’m much further left than the DNC (social anarchist), but “the party” is mostly doing the right thing here. That’s not to say the donors are though. I think most of the monied people are with Cuomo.
I don’t get why people are making a big deal out of the intifada thing. Who gives a shit that he said it? These idiots wouldn’t have any problem if he said “we need to bring everyone around the world together to rise against oppression”
it’s because of the islamophobia
you aren’t asking for proof against it
well for one i heard establishment democrat andrew cuomo is looking to run third party. can’t quite find the source right now but i remember hearing it somewhere
Yes, he is. He isn’t the DNC though.
And the “ratio” refers to looking at twitter engagement (e.g. retweets, likes, replies) relative to the tweet
Thanks for that - I never really understood it. So is this an example of a good or bad ratio? (I don’t eX-Twitter at all, this is the extent of my social media presence)
I should have been more specific in my question. What did Mamdani reply with?
A link to contribute to his campaign, because if Andrew is truly in it to win it for the Democratic party then he would line up instead of running against Mamdani
To a “contribute” link, which, I assume, leads to somewhere where you can contribute to his campaign.
I don’t use this social media and am guessing little on the symbols, but I think the ratio is referring to likes for each.
Mandani- 133k likes
Cuomo: 4.2k likes
Also, Mandani replied to the sex pest so everyone that viewed Mamdani’s post saw Cuomo’s and had the opportunity to like it. A reply having 30x the likes of the one it replied to is wild.
Quomo would go on to lose the vote to Mamdani. By a lot.
This is recent (yesterday), it’s after the primary that Mamdani won. Cuomo is still running as a third party candidate.
And yet Cuomo gets 5x the engagement (views and quotes). As has been demonstrated, attention is all that matters, positive or negative.
Mamdani has to play the game, but Twitter is still a losing game to play.
But Mamdani won and Cuomo lost the primary?
And they’re still trying to sabotage Mamdani in the general by splitting the vote.
Mandani won the game. He won the primary in a landslide.
Not yet. Dems are still trying to oust him in the general.
As has been demonstrated, attention is all that matters, positive or negative.
Cuomo lost the primary. I don’t understand ‘what has been demonstrated’ beyond a sexpest failed governor staying in the race as an independent to spoil the elected primary choice in the NY general.
It’s insane how deeply institutional FUD over anyone left of Nancy Pelosi pervades the party. Y’all out here cynically doubting immediately, let the man fail on his own demerits, instead of maintaining the ‘another unelectable lefty smh’ meme you are rehashing.
I’m not saying he’s unelectable, I’m all for him. Screw Pelosi and the archaic Democratic establishment, they can burn.
And I’m not saying he’s in trouble because he’s too left.
I’m saying social media, specifically, is stacked against him. And people should restrain their celebration of feel-good upvote ratios as a victory, lest they fall into the illusion of feeling like he’s “trending” and breaking through.
Mamdani is also on Tiktok and his presence there is widely credited to have boosted his image and eventual primary win.
Well that’s good! I didn’t know that.
If you look now, Mamdani’s tweet currently has 20x the retweets and 30x the likes. Most of the replies to Cuomo are telling him off.
Twitter shows Cuomo to more people, hence the views, but engagement is higher for Mamdani.
Twitter shows Cuomo to more people,
Exactly!
People liking Mamdani and telling Cuomo off already support Mamdani. If the goal is to expose Mamdani to newcomers/fence sitters, views from lurkers and such are what gets voters.
In other words, a high like ratio… feels nice. But if it doesn’t translate to more engagement (and it clearly does not, otherwise Twitter would be prioritizing serving Mamdani’s post), those likes aren’t translating to impact. In fact, hating on Cuomo drives more engagement in his favor because the Twitter algorithm knows outrage is engaging, and will expose more viewers to it.
