At a Thursday fundraising event in Chicago, President Biden trolled Republicans after Democrats secured several victories on election night.

“Democrats had an incredible night once again,” Biden said at the event, touting Democrats out-performing Republicans, citing wins in Kentucky, Ohio, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

“What happened on Tuesday is not unusual,” Biden said.

He added that Trump should take note of the victories, saying, “We haven’t stopped winning, and he hasn’t stopped losing.”

And the trend that started after Jan 6th continues. Turns out most real Americans don’t like #fascists.

Also, current pollsters are either leaning #GOP on purpose because they want a horse race or are trying to manufacture consent, or they simply cannot figure out how to poll in a post Roe v. Wade world.

or they simply cannot figure out how to poll in a post Roe v. Wade world.

No, they just don’t know how to poll in a world where smartphones exist.

The overwhelming majority of people who even own a landline in 2023 are older people who tend to skew Republican, so it should be little surprise when the results also skew Republican. Younger people either don’t own a landline at all, and/or are infinitely more likely to either ignore or outright block calls from numbers they don’t recognize.

I have gotten calls from pollsters on my smartphone which surprisingly do not automatically identify as spam. As soon as they tell me who they are it’s a “not interested” hang up from me. I don’t care which party they claim they’re with; I’m not giving any of my information, including political opinions, to someone I don’t know. For all I know, I’m being targeted for some kind of identity theft or scam. I treat it the same way as someone calling “from my bank”: assume they are up to no good. For something important that could have real consequences, I’ll follow up with the bank myself.

So yeah, like you said, younger people just generally not giving a shit about helping pollsters.

I don’t see an issue with taking a quick political poll. I’ve only ever gotten 2 or 3 calls, but I can see it getting obnoxious fast.

Do we care? They can take the info, twist it to their own ends or leave it.

Maybe I’m being dense, but I can’t see harm coming of answering a poll. Something I’m missing?

Smartphones have been around for a while now, but it seems like the polls being completely fucked is a fairly new development.

People have been mentioning it for years. Probably at least a decade. It’s just becoming more and more noticeable as time goes on. More and more people are ditching landlines in favor of smartphones, and the elderly that are hanging onto them are dying off. It was discussed less back in the earlier parts of the last decade or so because there were still plenty of landlines, so it was considered a statistical anomaly at most. But it’s been an issue for quite a while now.
