The US says it has deported what it described as 5 “criminal illegal aliens” to the southern African kingdom of Eswatini.
On board the flight were 5 deportees from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen who have been convicted of crimes ranging from child rape to murder, US Homeland Security Department Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in an online post.
“This flight took individuals so uniquely barbaric that their home countries refused to take them back,” McLaughlin wrote on X.
Earlier this month, the US sent 8 migrants from several countries to South Sudan after a court lifted restrictions on sending people to countries where they have no ties.
I know this doesn’t matter anymore, but I thought you couldn’t depart to 3rd countries unless someone arrived from there.
And yes, I read this bit
Last month, the US Supreme Court cleared the way for the Trump administration to resume deporting migrants to countries other than their own.
Doesn’t it violate international law?
It probably falls under making people stateless, which is illegal. MAGA’ll argue that because they’re in custody, that’s not what’s happening, but nothing they argue is in good faith. If they argue to do one thing, they’re planning on doing something twice as bad in a month.
It’s not making them stateless. They are still citizens of their original countries.
Are they, if under this conceit their home country refuses to accept them back?
Or if they are US citizens arbitrarily stripped of their citizenship?
Do we know if they even ask these peoples’ home countries if theyll take them back? I haven’t heard that. As fsr as I know, they’re just selling them off to be slaves, which it feels like happened in this case.
Both international treaties on statelessness were never signed by the US. I don’t think the US has any obligations under international law to not make people stateless. But that doesn’t cause statelessness either.
A consequence of this is that Americans have the freedom to make themselves stateless. The government will tell you how monumentally bad of an idea that is, but they will let you renounce citizenship without having another one.
On the bright side: A media outlet finally called Eswatini by the right name. It only took a couple years.
What’s the incorrect name?

Because my asshole shitcunt of a president thinks that your country is a shithole. Which is largely due to your country being mostly black people.
This is a man who didn’t believe Lesotho was a real country. Odds are someone suggested this place and he thought it was a “wink wink nudge nudge” way of saying they’re going to disappear these people.
I would imagine that they see your country as small, unable to fight back, and “full of savages.” I am SO embarrassed at this administration, they live in some weird childish fantasy land like 1950s cartoons. These are people with huge paintings of cowboys in their offices, like “Custer’s Last Fight” by Cassilly Adams, showing Custer somehow fighting off Indians dressed as Zulus (a lot of 19th-century artists sometimes portrayed Plains Indians in “Custer’s Last Stand”-style paintings with elements borrowed from Zulu warriors due to ignorance, theatrical flair, or lack of good references). Deporting these people to your country, which is probably seen as “generically Africa” in some undefined manner, “put the savages back with their kind.”
These politicians are a stain on anything good and decent about Americans. Again, on behalf of America, I am deeply sorry this administration is so immature and reckless. Reminds me of this joke from Johnny Dangerously

FARGIN WAR!
Con-Air remake?
Was that country fine with this, or is it a matter of getting the flight there before they realize?
I have a feeling that these 5 people are now slaves.
