President Donald Trump showed a screenshot of the video to South African President Cyril Ramaphosa as part of what he falsely presented as proof of mass killings of white South Africans.
After watching the video of him and Ramaphosa, it seems clear to me there is a real chance the orange one thinks South Africa is simply the southernmost half of the African continent
This hypothetical misunderstanding already assumes too much geographical knowledge on the part of Trump – namely “the Sahara exists”, “the Sahara is in Africa”, and “the Sahara is specifically in northern Africa”.
Maybe Trump thinks “South Africa” is everything south of the Sahara.
