Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney met with President Donald Trump at the White House at a tense time for US-Canadian relations.

To a question about Trump’s remarks about Canada becoming the 51st U.S. state, the newly elected Carney replied, “There are some places that are never for sale … having met with the owners of Canada over the course of the campaign, it’s not for sale. It won’t be for sale ever.”

Trump quipped on a couple of occasions that it was “all about time,” and to “never say never” to the idea of Canada’s annexation by the U.S.
