Something strange happened to me for the first time in the two weeks I’ve owned a Steam Deck.
I pressed the power button and felt the haptic feedback but the screen didn’t turn on. After 10 seconds I decided to try again, this time the screen turned on but the top bar of gaming mode wasn’t there. So I switched to desktop and back to gaming mode, and the top bar was displayed correctly.
I’m extremely worried about the first issue (the screen not turning on after pressing the power button), probably because I keep reading how delicate the power button can be.
Do you think this was hardware-related? I can only hope it isn’t, considering that the haptic feedback was there while the top bar wasn’t (maybe crashed right after pressing the power button the first time, causing the Deck to return to sleep?); also, I’m on the preview channel.
Should I be worried? Should I open a ticket?
Thank you

Thank you for the reassurance c:
By any chance, do you know of any way to wake Deck from sleep other than using the power button? For instance, on Switch you can use both the power button and the home button

if there was another way and it still happened, that would decrease the probability of hardware issues I think.
I would also settle for custom shortcuts, given I still haven’t used L4/L5 or R4/R5.

there is an odd bug with the steamdeck where when it wakes from sleep it goes back to sleep.

I think it’s seeing a time difference greater than the auto sleep timeout, so it wakes up, thinks it’s been idle for 5, or 15 or whatever min, so it thinks it’s time to go into sleep mode.

you wake it up a second time, And it does not see the time difference trigger, so it stays awake.

I am currently testing this by having auto sleep turned OFF. I now manually sleep as needed and so far , I have not seen it go back to sleep after waking up.

    SO FAR…

No idea on the other issues.

I do have auto sleep set to the minimum value, even though I don’t think it ever triggered… five minutes is still a bit too much lol

The first one seems like bug on my laptop with Mint XFCE (happened also on Manjaro XFCE). When my brightness is set on lowest setting the monitor don’t turn on. I have to blindly log in and bump it up with hot key.

But I don’t know how common this bug is and lately there are lots of bugs because of s0 sleep in new hardware.

Yeah I also remember that bug back when I was on Manjaro XFCE. And I do have the brightness set to 1% (I mostly play at night)
