Anyone remember Umbrella Man from the 2020 Minneapolis riots? He was smashing windows and trying to frame BLM protesters when in fact he was a right wing nut job.

Wasn’t the only case if I recall of that year.

Boogaloo boys tried to do something similar in framing nearby protesters over George Floyd when they shot up a Federal courthouse, killing a security guard.

Investigations into the 2020 protests found that the vast majority of protests were peaceful and a majority of the violence was instigated by counter-protesters.

        There was this too:

Among multiple problems was the fact that the idiot thought “I’ll be the one to finally make an ‘anarchy’ symbol with the proper attention to detail!” Another one was - who the hell has ever been enthusiastic enough about a Biden presidency to decide they needed to express it with a can of paint on someone else’s property?

It really was immediately apparent, it was just a matter of waiting for the inevitable confirmation.

I get a similar vibe here. It really doesn’t make sense as a crime that group would be motivated to commit.

Agree but there’s some commenters here that are so deep in the ml accelerationist sauce I wouldn’t be surprised. They’ve literally replied that they hope the US falls to ruin and whatever violence happens is a fever killing a virus.

As a mod, I’ve seen this too much.

Not saying all, but many green party people advocating for Harris’ defeat. As much as they may hope, Jill Stein was never a viable option, so who were they rallying for?

Those are the same people I never heard advocate for green party at local, county, state, or other federal office positions.

A few - like 3-5 people - were militant enough, I can believe it COULD be (not saying it was) a leftist.

If someone is only active in rabble rousing and not in supporting any affirmative ideas or actions around solutions to problems, then I tend to have a bit of suspicion that we’re simply dealing with a rabble rouser, and not someone interested in any actual improvements. It doesn’t really matter, to a rabble rouser, what the rousing is towards, since chaos is the goal. Any nebulous direction works, so long as the push is towards chaos.

If your goal is to watch the world burn, you do need an excuse for that. You can’t just be like “well, I like the idea of collapse, suffering and death. don’t you? c’mon, it’ll be fun.”

Most leftists have actual policy discussions, proposals, specifics that they’d like to see implemented. They’ll actually applaud movement in a positive direction. Not all, though.

This is going to be a “no true Scotsman” statement, but when a “leftist” loves authoritarianism so much that they find themselves advocating and cheering for the furthest right of the only two possible outcomes, I disagree that they are leftists. Especially so when they are also huge fans of state capitalist nations that produce hundreds of billionaires.

Yeah this is definitely coming from the people who say voting doesn’t matter if you support the uniparty of war, and not the Alex Jones supporters who think mail-in ballots are a vector for fraud.

Being a mod definitely hasn’t poisoned your brain, and is a very legitimate qualification.

                So- to summarize:

According to you, the mods in /News are “crybabies and only want to see things they agree with” while you simultaneously support the idea that not voting- or throwing away votes on third party spoilers and shills will somehow bring about the changes you’d like to see?

And to add to this, your comment history is FULL of verbal temper tantrums and pseudo-intellectual nonsense directed at anyone and anything outside of your little bubble.

From my perspective, you have zero room in there to be casting aspersions at others.

False flag is rarely the correct answer. Not never, but definitely rare. It’s usually a knee-jerk by the party embarrassed by some action.

The police are thinking that too.

Investigators are trying to determine if the perpetrator was actually a pro-Palestinian activist or someone using that prominent cause to sow discord, one of the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.

In either case, the actions of one person don’t prove much about the larger movement that he intends to support.

Almost like if you radicalize people they could go in any direction. Blame still lies with the oppressors. Always remember that. Hold your fellow citizens accountable but do not allow all the blame to fall to them.

If I were setting ballot box fires, I’d probably want to do something to lead investigators off the scent.

Like maybe claim a different entity was doing it for different reasons.

      de·vice

      noun

a thing made or adapted for a particular purpose, especially a piece of mechanical or electronic equipment.

Sounds like the correct word to me. You don’t just walk into the store and buy an IED.

One of the law enforcement officials with knowledge of the markings said that all three devices were sent to the terrorist explosive device analytical center in Huntsville, Ala.
