The first person NBC interviewed after their coverage of the VP debate said that Walz gave competent answers about policy, and clearly stood for average people, while Vance just deflected the whole time. And then he said he still didn’t know who he was going to vote for, and that the VP debate couldn’t sway him anyway.

Democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the others that have been tried.

lUkE sHoUlD eArN mY vOtE!!! You won’t shame me into voting for him! I don’t care if Vader wins - not my fault! Lalalalala not listening! Down with the duopoly! We will just become ungovernable! Anyone else here voting for Lando?

There did I hit all the points? U••••••••M••• or L•••••B••• want to chime in and let me know if I missed anything?

The proper analogy to this election would be if Luke and Vader both had death stars, both had blown up a planet, but Luke’s campaign promise was that he’ll blow up fewer planets than Vader will.

Terrorism is just regular war that has more effect on general population & public opinion (usually, but not limited to, done by attacking civil targets or military targets in public view). And everyone uses this tactic - big superpowers or a small group of individuals. The difference is that the small group doesn’t even have the option to face a superpower in direct military conflict.

(Like, there is a reason why US bombardment of Japan, including both nuclear bombs, targeted civilian population - just as a definition, it was to inflict terror to get the public opinion & military support to capitulate)

Terroristic acts are a bit more democratic in the sense that they bring small voices to the stage that are otherwise drowned out by domestic propaganda.

(Needles to say but still - all violence of any kind is bad!)

Drag isn’t going to vote in the election because both sides are the same. Princess Leia called a wookie a carpet, which makes her just as bad as the Emperor.

The Rebels were revolutionaries, not electoral candidates. A more accurate meme would be about voting for Grand Moff Tarkin or Darth Vader, with Leftists siding with the Rebels. George Lucas himself said Star Wars was inspired by the Vietnam War, and the rebels represented the Viet Cong and the Empire represented the US.

Darth Vader didn’t blow up Alderaan, it was Tarkin who gave the order. That said, Vader isn’t a good comparison as he is Lawful Evil, but still has good in him. The options we have to vote for this election are Tarkin or Jabba the Hutt but uglier. One is obviously worse.

How else could they test a weapon capable of destroying planets? That act was part of a scientific research!

They destroyed a planet that attacked the Empire, much like nuclear bombs, that was a deterrent that kept other planets from joining the same power-grab AllTheWrong planet/monarchy was supporting and prolonging the war.

Republic would have enslaved & bombarded the shit out of it, then had years of ground assault campaigns - that is so much more financially lucrative.

Empire ended wars that have been going on forever, got rid of seriously corrupted religious private group that had power over every aspect of the republic, and Palpatine was voted into power by several democratic layers.

Analkin was an abused slave his whole life & had enough of that bullshit. Basically only made one big free decision in his whole life (and even that was (attempted) murder of some geriatric head of state).

Luke was guided into de facto terrorism by the powerless remnants of previous elites that wanted to get back into power (and ultimately kinda did).

The propaganda how a religious group A is good but religious group B is bad is just insane - they both do the same shady bullshit, kidnap kids, manipulate leaders, kill without consequences, etc.
Its just that the Jedi were historically victorious over Sith (or at least had their golden age chronologically after the Sith had theirs) so they wrote the (re)public opinion on Sith.
