    Why wouldn’t they just tie explosives to their car or bed like a normal assassin?

    Those things are dangerous to acquire and produce by oneself. Guns are convenient and safe.

    As for strange, not really. Many assassinations have occurred this way. The key is the intended victim is out in the open.
