  • 77ms of latency is pretty slow. Based off that I’d assume (but not rule out) that it’s not: on the machine you used to run nmap, not on ethernet, probably wifi with a shitty connection

So, some really dumb, likely irrelevant, questions that might spark an idea:

    • Do you see anything weird connected in the wifi client list? (You said it wasn’t given a dhcp lease, but it would still show as a wireless client even if it were static)

    • Are you running a VPN server or using VPN to bridge any networks?

    • You said you’re running dual WAN, are those configured properly and not leaking random internet shit into your LAN?

    • Do you have anything that might be running some kind of out-of-band management system like DRAC on a dell server?

    • What’s your IoT situation?

    • Do you have an on-site NVR for security cams?

    • Did you find the mac? If so what are the first 3 octets? Even if the vendor can’t be found, there’s always the chance some crazy ubernerd is going to recognize it. (If it’s 00:d0:2c or 44:d9:e7 I got ya covered)

Again, most of those are probably irrelevant, but throwing the thoughts out there :)

  • Hey man, I know that feeling. Looking through your history, you seem like a legitimately great dude with a huge heart that’s been through way more shit than anyone should have to bear. I wish I knew some magical phrase that could fix things, but I see you, I’m thinking of you, and I’m sorry for what you’re going through. I truly truly hope to see you around here again. <3

  • Pregabalin actually has the opposite effect on me, it wakes me up so I take it in the morning. It also gives me some pretty bad withdrawals if I miss a dose by more than 24hrs. I’m only on 400mg and it’s one of the few drugs I’ve been on that actually help with my depression, so not bashing it, just sharing my experience. :)

eta: it’s been a long time since I’ve tried taking it at night, I’m going to try it again and report back. Maybe I’ve been missing out on a cure to my whack ass sleep this whole time

update: nah it actually didn’t make much of a difference for better or worse. I’m glad it helps for some people though!

  • I think Puppy or Damn Small Linux, maybe knoppix, i was on dial up at the time. Then I found that I could request a free Ubuntu install disk and the speed and cleanliness and compiz effects blew my mind. 04 or 06, can’t remember which. From there I think it was xubuntu, mint, arch, arch nvme died and I needed an os immediately so manjaro, got sick of manjaro and garuda sounded neat so i tried it and that’s where I am now on my main. Made a mess toying with wayland and am ready to reinstall, probably back to arch or try out nixos

edit: reading through all these comments is bringing back so many memories of other distros I played with back then.
