Ford recently announced their decision to use their facility built for the purpose of expanding their EV supply to instead manufacturer more ICE pick-up trucks.
I created a space for people to make connections and learn from each other. I call it Grok.Town and plan to start up a Lemmy instance at that domain, but for now it’s a space on Matrix with a few rooms to chat and get to know one another. Check it out @ https://matrix.to/#/#groktown:matrix.org

The most recent group of people that acted on their emotional desires in this vain did so in support of the man who is taking money from a billionaire (hundred-billionare?) to stay in power in exchange for changing their policy position to favor the donor. This group failed and many were convicted of federal crimes.
They’re the old HP of cars. Rivian is the new HP of cars.
Great review video!
I hope something like this can enter the US market. But I know that’s a very long shot.
The Spanish plant will assemble cars from kits that have been partially “knocked down”, according to Chery. Typically, such vehicles are made in cheaper locations, taken apart and then reassembled closer to where they are sold. The process, common in auto manufacturing, will allow Chery to avoid EU tariffs imposed on finished cars.
There’s got to be a better way to deal with the issues that have lead to this arrangement.
They don’t even sell ICE or Hybrid Taurus or Focus models in the US. They want to sell trucks and SUVs only.
As I understand it, some studies don’t distinguish low-volume drinking from not drinking.
The quoted portion of the meta-study in the post makes it clear that the studies reviewed did distinguish between low-volume drinking and not drinking.
It wouldn’t surprise me if sample selection not taking into account social factors which would cause people who drink at low volumes to lie and say they don’t drink could play a role in certain studies.

SURE: Series of Unsurprising Results in Economics
I found out about these today by the comments linked below:
If you’re shopping for a car with a specific budget, you should be able to pick and choose between many different models, many of which are EVs.
Only if you’re situation allows for making an EV a primary mode of transportation. The market for EVs is probably the best it’s ever been. The percentage of people for whom an EV would make sense has never been larger, but still, most people in the US would be making a mistake to get one.
Absolutely. Not enough people know people who have experience with EVs. Toyota and Honda built their reputation over decades. And for most people, it really doesn’t make a lot of sense to get an EV if they just see it as transportation.
Yup. In the current market, EVs are for people living in single family homes in the suburbs and commute a significant distance daily or people who want to spend money on a status symbol.
Exactly.
People want communities. They want healthy communities. Protectionism can facilitate healthy communities.
Innovation at all costs is not what society in general wants. This is abundantly clear throughout history and modern society.
Correct, unlike that.
Worse than that, actually.
You’re probably cheering on the outsourcing of techworkers too, right? Who cares about the safety of the people building the things we want to buy cheaply, right?
Protectionism can go too far and often does, but it isn’t unnecessary for healthy societies. Free, unregulated trade isn’t always the right answer.
If people in townhomes, condos, and apartments can conveniently charge while sleeping, they’ll switch eventually if it saves them money.
More expensive upfront, negating all of the benefit of lower power costs for years. And huge expense on the horizon with an uncertain timing for battery replacement that negates secondary market value at some point.
Citation count has been and continues to be the defacto measure of research importance.
Not all work is unwanted. I want the communities I moderate to thrive and reports can help with that.
Seems like it’s pretty much like any other surface in your kitchen, it requires regular cleaning.
