  • I think I made a mistake by bringing in the concept of power tripping mods.

you’re right to: a huge majority of the lemmyverse’s current userbase has self sorted themselves into a few instances that makes power tripping mods a real problem.

if they had embraced the lemmyverse in it’s original tankie spirit this would not be is a problem at all because the fediverse is designed to keep the discourse going despite any block/ban/defederation; taking those actions only serves to remove yourself from the main group chat that everyone else can see. a power tripping mod has no power when you can easily side step them to continue participating in the discourse.

  • the fediverse already handles power tripping mods & admins well by keeping the discourse alive no matter what they do and it’s all by design

when a power tripper tries to ban/block/defederate the nature of the fediverse makes it so that the power tripper is only removing themselves from the main group chat that everyone else can see.

it’s also helps frustrate self selecting users with moderate views. when you fully embrace the lemmyverse in its intended tankie spirit; you end up with an entire spectrum of activity levels with tons of nice content that can rival reddit and power tripping moderators/admins don’t matter at all since you can simply go onto any other instance to keep participating in the discourse; but when your world views are so rigid that it forces you to self sort into into echo chamber instances; then power tripping mods are a big problem and a sea of endless inactive duplicates is all you get.

  • For instance, one of her policies is an anti-genocide policy. This might seem a bit radical and extreme but it’s apparently very popular.

it saddens me greatly that the question of genocide in this overton window is not whether or not genocide should exist; but instead the question is how much genocide is acceptable and the only incorrect answer is “zero”.

it makes me sadder still that social media is dominated by manufactured consent so thoroughly that pointing something like “genocide is bad” only brands you a radical; a malcontent; too idealistically optimistic; or simply ignored.

  • clinics in abortion-free states start becoming official Satanic Temple places of worship left and right, complete with minimal decorations and everything, clinic doctors as priests, things like that.

why bother pretending that they’re places of worship? religious hospitals and schools don’t pretend to be places of worship and they apply their their prejudices anyways; so long as it they don’t violate federal law.

just create a satanic hospital with an extremely generous obstetrics wings & laboratories and satanic obgyn schools.

they could even take this a step further and get trans people to identify as satanic and that their trans identification is an expression of religion; protected by law and invalidating any anti trans laws.

they could also apply this to library book bans by saying that the trans and gay books they’re banning are texts sacred to their religion and must be displayed like the bible or the ten commandments.

    are you me? lol

i’m likewise seeking a passport and the bureaucratic maze inspires oddly conflicting emotions.

I’ve got smile lines and the beginnings of crows feet, I am weathered! Why am it getting carded now

i’ve learned recently that i wear tank tops revealing enough that the perpetual double nip slip got me kicked out of a grocery store; so i know that it’s impossible to not see my iron grey hirsute upper body in addition to the copious weight loss induced and age defining face wrinkles that make me unrecognizable on the identification that they use to card me with.

  • There are countless lawsuits lied to try to block their voter suppression in Texas. They often do block some of it. Without control of the Texas state legislature, it’s difficult to do more than action in the judicial system

i suspect extremely few, if any, people/groups within texas have the necessary clout; but something like the DNC does through its donors.

The DNC is investing more heavily this cycle in Texas

it’s been increasing over the years and still nowhere near enough.

  • that is not something we can afford to ignore

that’s what i’m referring to; the DNC has been ignoring it so much that they’ve given tepid-at-best support for texan democrats for decades.

also: democrats don’t bother to understand why people don’t vote and still bother to do nothing about it once educated on why; but republicans do bother to understand do bother to do something about it.

that’s they their victories are usually in the single digit range in texas; they take action to suppress the vote when they see that there’s a chance that they might lose and no one who has the sufficient clout to contest it does so.

  • i had a similar suspicion since i get the same thing and the speed at which it happens makes it clear that they’re using something like an API.

that means that the admins of .world are aware of it and turning a blind eye towards it; which is surprising considering how they’ve publicly called out other admins from other instances for doing similar underhanded things.

i expect that from conservatives; not lemmy-ites.
