There’s a TikTok sound/song about capybaras, and videos of them are fairly popular.

It’s kinda the least “Radiohead” Radiohead song.
Not an actual quote but:
Tbf, being a gay teacher ain’t that much better in OK today.
The difference here though I guess - is that people are taking sides. Showing up. Supporting.
I think a lot of LGBTQ people especially are drawn to education. Many of us went through very difficult K12 experiences. The ones who enjoyed the academics - for whom math or English class was a haven in a rocky world - we feel called to help children. We feel called to give them that little safe space. To put up just a single sticker that says “I will call you by the name you wish me to. I will respect you. I will love you.”
This above all is why the narrative is so hard to understand, so twisted. The idea that we are predators. I love every child I have worked with. The ones that hated me, the ones that treated me like garbage, the ones that called me slurs. My queerness did impact my decision to go into education - but because I know that STEM and the arts are places where what you can do will always be greater than what you are. I may be a gay trans man, but I can use laplace transformations to solve a differential equations. I can give this to anyone who asks - why would I not want to at least try to liberate as many children as I can?
I just wish being queer was a non factor. I wish no one cared. I wish I was planning a summer of traveling from city to city setting up free science booths and my uterus was something that only my doctor cared about.
Yes - the oak trees were a big deal. Touring the gardens was part of the house tour.
They really try to make one of the daughters of the house a sort of princess/Southern Belle. The woman at the gift shop really encouraged me to pick this up, when we started talking about Gone With the Wind.
I’ll have to flip through the ephemera collection to find some of the other “fun” things. Also got a coffee table book somewhere.
Historically - buying votes with alcohol was a thing. Think 1890’s - 1920’s corruption - Tammany Hall. Probably how Edgar Allen Poe died - voting multiple times in exchange for alcohol.
That plantation, Nottoway, explicitly presented itself as romantic. When I visited, they had an exhibit about how kindly the old master was, because he gave the slave children candy at Christmas.
It’s a place for rich white people to have weddings at, while being served by underpaid black people who are probably descendants of the people held there. They sold cotton in the gift shop - it was a sugarcane plantation. That’s something you do on fucking purpose.
If you want a place that understands that it is Americans Auschwitz - Whitney Plantation. Amazing place that everyone in the American south should visit.
Half life of the plutonium isotope they used is about 88 years.
I named myself after two scientists, whose work I share with the world regularly 😉
christian conservatives: we need to stack the Supreme Court to punish sluts and homos
also christian conservatives: Epstein’s buddy, the rapist who couldn’t name his favorite Bible verse, is gods chosen instrument
The solution is to put all of the uniqueness in the middle name. Then you still get to feel “special” while not forcing your kid to go by “tragedeigh” or whatever.
When I chose my name - I made my first as milquetoast and appropriate to my age as possible. My middle I went balls out - I guarantee I have a cooler middle name than you do.
With EA and Spore - SecuROM was a straight up root kit. Basically malware. Pretty sure on the Sims 2 forums there were people who had their computers bricked. (Sims 2 was already messy enough to reinstall sometimes, EA did lots of weirdness with the registry.)
Sony did something similar with music CD’s. Their elaborate scheme to prevent you from ripping your CD’s more than three times or whatever created a vulnerability that was actively exploited by malware developers.
The free market is when the president tells companies what prices they should set.
That sounds like a criminal confession. You’ll need to show up to court this Sunday for arraignment.
The fact that the other singer on the soundtrack sounds like a teenage boy doesn’t help.
Why the fuck was this on the Osmosis Jones album.

HRF lawyers and online activists trawl through mountains of images and videos submitted to them online to verify and geolocate each one, check its metadata and verify its chain of custody, from the soldier filming it through to HRF, Abou Jahjah explained.
Where the perpetrator is a dual national, HRF seeks prosecution under the second country’s existing laws on war crimes and in the case of sole Israeli citizens, collate legal files, which are then filed as evidence with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Abou Jahjah has also been personally threatened by Israeli Minister of Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli, who – alluding to the attacks on Hezbollah’s members’ communication systems in September 2024 – told him to “watch your pager”.
It’s sorta like how many states had abortion laws on the books ready to return to enforcement the second Dobbs happened.
It’s not as if a sitting Supreme Court Justice has speculated on getting rid of Lawrence v Texas - oh wait:
[W]e should reconsider all of this Court’s substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell. Because any substantive due process decision is ‘demonstrably erroneous’ … we have a duty to ‘correct the error’ established in those precedents.”
Clarence Thomas. Shithead would give up Loving v Virginia as long as he keeps getting to be a sex pest and enjoy fun yacht trips.
There were no consequences when he doxxed one of Roy Moore’s victims.
