I would whole heartedly agree. It is the core we must build from.

That’s a lot of words to say “I see no value in community” (which is all the post is suggesting, what you get defensive about and why is for you to resolve with yourself)
Edit, because obviously this isn’t clear to some: without a community, and alternative communal structures to fall back on, the current structures can not be abolished and a revolution will never be successful.
It actually was precisely the plan - conspiracy theories are sown by the establishment to deflect from itself and shift blame elsewhere, so they can get away with whatever they want to and still maintain power.
Qanon was about deflecting “the most rich and powerful in society get away with trafficking, rape, and murder” to “liberals get away with trafficking, rape, and murder”. In the same way that “the economy is controlled by a small group of rich and powerful capitalists” is deflected to “the economy is controlled by Jews”, and “abusive men in positions of power groom children” to “drag queens groom children”.
It’s one way to manufacture consent, and it works.
Except that film offers zero criticism of capitalism, only a promotion of eugenics, ableism, and classism (which are some of the very same unethical structures that are inherent to and serve capitalism). 👎
Got ya. 👍
Sorry, I’m not sure if you’re trying to make a point or just provide a TL;RD?
Capitalism along with ableism.
They see a desperate need, and they price their products accordingly. Accessibility aids, and healthcare in general, are obscenely overpriced, when they shouldn’t even be priced at all.
I love banana bread, but hate fresh bananas, so I never buy any. I guess that’s one way to solve this problem… 😂
Because it makes it easier for those still comfortable enough in the status quo to dismiss revolutionary action, and keeps them safe and secure in the idea they’ve been indoctrinated with that “the system might not be perfect but it’s the best we’ve got”.
No one really did it to Germany at all, nor anywhere else, including the country Hitler got his inspiration from.
The truth is WWII wasn’t fought over bigotry and hate and the fact that people were being exterminated on an industrial scale, it was fought so those in power could stay in power and maintain the status quo, and also make a handsome profit. War always is.
Fascism is capitalism in decay, we will never be rid of one, without abolishing the other.
Sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It’s not the original line.
E: it’s the suggested cure for insomnia
Definitely not rare, more like malignant, aggressive, terminal…
But the cancer analogy does work, because you can’t cure it with band aids (like elections), you have to cut the fucker out at its core, radiate the remaining tissue to make sure none is left behind (via education and a complete overhaul of how society functions, with zero tolerance for bigotry), and continue to get regular check ups to make sure it hasn’t returned, and if it does, radiate the fucker again before it metastasises.
I would go to Europe
Lol, as if the right isn’t on the rise pretty much everywhere and WW3 is brewing in our own back yard…
Capitalism is decaying in to fascism globally and rapidly. Wherever you go in the world, you WILL be up against varying levels of the same bullshit, and while I understand less bullshit is easier to live with, without active resistance, it becomes more bullshit real fucking quick, and you’ll be back where you started.
That’s the spirit! 😂
Sure, but you’re still waiting for the government to legalise it for you, which is never going to happen (not for those of us who would target billionaires, anyway).
You only need to wait for the purge, and in a queue, if you’re going one-on-one, but never forget - we are the many, they are the few, all we need to do is unite.
Nowhere is it even implied that community on its own will stop capitalism, but without it you will achieve no meaningful change.
Like, who the fuck do you think you’re going to be toppling the government and doing socialism with? How the fuck do you think you get people today to understand the value of doing that? How do you gather enough human mass to enact it?
I’m all for a violent abolition of our existing establishments, but this hostility that seems to be coming out of people towards the mere suggestion of the importance of community building is really odd…
You will never get anywhere without a community.
