“Mobs” is a loaded word. This isn’t vigilante justice. This is how social systems work.
Sorry, I thought this was “lefty memes,” not “bootlicker memes.” My mistake.
This sounds very classist to me. Level of education has nothing to do with being a good person. If you’re educated, but you’re too cowardly to stand up for what’s right, then your education is a complete waste.
The people getting forced off the train are the ones being bigots. For example, people who make comments against gay people, women, trans people, or black people. People who act like that get forced off at the next stop. Not just bigots, but I’ve seen people taking creepshots of young women get pressured off the train/bus as well. No cops needed. Does this make sense?
It doesn’t happen every time, but it happens enough in certain neighborhoods. I’ve seen it multiple times.
Looks like the people who are hurt are the ones downvoting a perfectly good meme. Just because y’all let bigots use you as a doormat doesn’t mean we’re all pathetic cowards.
This is great! Thank you so much for compiling these resources. I’ve bookmarked it for reference. Please don’t delete it!
What the fuck does this have to do with forcing bigots off the train? Clueless ass comment. Blocked.
I’m sorry you don’t ride with better people. It’s great to see!
Fuck those racist suburbanites. It’s not ok to disseminate the racist myth about a border “crisis” just to win political favor. Fuck anyone – Democrat, Republican, or other – that contributes to this.
Edit: That sounded really negative. If you support open borders, then I hope you have a great day!
I have that about:config setting in Firefox that makes videos only play if you manually click them. Many news sites refuse to display the video at all with this setting.
Another thing they do that makes them unusable for me and anyone else with impaired vision is they aggressively disable the “force pinch to zoom” accessibility setting that browsers have. ABC News does this, for example. I actually did file an ADA report about this, but it was rejected, even though it’s a clear violation of the federal ADA guidelines. Worthless corporations protected by worthless government agencies that only exist to protect the rich.
To make a long story short, I have no qualms about not giving these sites my money. Let them burn.
As a 2FA supporter, I get a bit addled when the time sync isn’t working properly and my discord login won’t accept the code
I feel like ads got worse over time to the point that one can barely fathom visiting a news media site without an adblocker.
This could be a good thing in that it could potentially help democratize journalism, taking it out of the hands of billionaires. Conversely, it could make harmful conspiracy theories more widespread.
Most likely, it would be a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.
Also, why the hell is this downvoted? Am I missing something?
One thing that is not on my bucket list is climbing Mt. Everest. Any natural wonder and charm it once had have been destroyed by mindless tourists.
No one person can represent an entire culture though. That’s why it’s on us to learn how to be respectful.
For example, someone from Mexico might be just fine with offensive Hispanic stereotypes, but that doesn’t excuse such behavior. You can’t just ask a random person for a pass, like what? Even asking for something like that would be utterly tasteless lmao
But cultural appreciation is not what is meant by “cultural appropriation.” Cultural appropriation is when it’s done in a disrespectful manner.
I grew up with some utterly racist experiences in school – the feather “headdress” and cardboard tipis, the sombreros on Cinco de Mayo, etc.
I wish I’d had someone at the time to explain why that was wrong.
To me, the term “cultural appropriation” refers to things like schools having kids make chicken feather “headdresses” to “celebrate” Native American Day, or wearing a religious symbol in a disrespectful way. Even though people like the person in the post can be annoying, I think it’s still progress that we’re able to have these discussions, and I think it’s too bad that for many people the takeaway seems to be “cultural appropriation is never problematic.” I’d take the person from the post any day over someone who thinks they’re immune from criticism when they unintentionally engage in behavior that truly is disrespectful.
This has been my experience as well. I feel this every time I have something social planned, and even moreso when depressed.
I can be totally aware of what I need to do to feel better, and still get hung up on that first damn step. The psychological struggle is real.
I agree! Hearing people being very enthused and happy about something is very comforting to me.
As others have pointed out, there are exceptions – flat earthers, religious fanatics, violent people – but even then, it’s not the hearing part that’s the problem – it’s more the problematic content itself
This was me for a while. I’ve found that when I’m depressed, taking the first step out the door can feel like an insurmountable task.
Also related, I’m actually in a conversation with a discord friend right now about how hard it is to feel connected to something as we get older. It’s still possible, but it takes a concerted effort. Add things like depression and exhaustion to the mix, and you’ve got the ingredients for a downward spiral.
There are so many people out there who I’d love to give a big mental hug. So many people hurting.
Yes it’s anarchist, which is leftist
You could Google that instead of asking someone you obviously just want to dunk on
Go away
