Long story short, he was set to give a speech at a convention, workers went on strike and everyone involved is doing the exact same thing as Biden.

A strike by the staff of the nation’s largest teachers’ union has prompted President Biden to cancel a speech on Sunday in Philadelphia, where he was scheduled to address thousands of delegates to the union’s annual convention.

The staff union of the National Education Association began its strike on Friday, citing management’s revocation of holiday overtime pay for the Fourth of July holiday and its refusal to provide information on $50 million in outsourced work that may have previously been done by N.E.A. staff. The strike has shut down the last three days of the four-day convention, as delegates declined to cross a picket line.

He’s cancelling the speech so as to not cross the picket line. In support of the union.

Not exactly a bold prediction to say Trump is gonna be racist at the debate. Kind of a free space on the bingo card at this point.

Obviously I’m voting for Biden. That being said, it really is something to live here in the ‘land of the free’ and read sentences stating that voting for someone who doesn’t support genocide isn’t an option this cycle. Pragmatic and true, but goddamn does it burn.

My read on the article was that this was the corporation tipping their hand on how that process was going to play out, but I could certainly be wrong. read to me like the faculty voted for them to graduate, but this was the board vetoing that and affirming that they were still to be dealt with, and that the consequences were going to be grim. Hopefully that’s not the case.

I really don’t understand the logic here. Like yeah, Trump clearly wants to rig the election. But if that’s the plan, why hire a bunch of people who both failed and got caught trying rig the last election. I can understand some level of rewarding loyalty, but this not only tips your hand, it also promotes incompetence. Unless its all meant as a ‘screw you’ to everyone else, in which case its cutting off the nose to spite the face.

Oh I definitely read it, and was also being snarky for sure. But even in the article it says that only 50 billion total gas been doled out. 50 billion split between more than fifty different states and territories over the course of two years still doesn’t cut it for me. Yes, it helps and i’m certainly appreciative that it is not zero (as it would have been otherwise). However, it is still far too little, especially when it is estimated that we spend 20 billion every year on oil industry subsidies.

The Democrats have the senate majority so would be able to, but they probably wouldn’t anyways following the precedent of Dems not getting a Justice during an election year.
