A deleted scene from the beginning of Star Trek IV had Saavik staying on Vulcan because she was pregnant with Spock’s child.
Just found this community (not a Star Trek fan), browsing for fun. Googled “Saavik” and thought “damn, this is a beautiful woman”. Then I learned that she’s played by fucking Kirstie Alley!
She was once. Then she was played by Robin Curtis in her two later appearances. Which at the time was unusual in Star Trek.
Now loads of characters have had two or three different actors play them.
Though at this point it’s usually because the original actor is dead. Saavik, Alexander, and Ziyal were the only significant recasts for ages.
