Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government is introducing new measures to tighten standards on colleges, responding to criticism that Canada’s education sector is bringing in so many foreign students that it’s boosting pressure on housing and the labor market.
There are enough wealthy international students that we could not accept ones that need work to support themselves.
I can’t agree with that. It drains those source countries of wealth while simultaneously restricting opportunity to just those with existing financial means.
Anything we export technically “drains those source countries of wealth”
That’s how exports work. You can’t import something without paying for it.
At least in this case some of them return and add value to their home economy by having better education than is available in their home country.
That may address the labor issue but regardless of wealth they still need to live somewhere.
