It sounds like there’s no way to ever have a missing dependency ever again, but in reality, 99% of the time the thing you’re trying to run isn’t in Nixpkgs and doesn’t have a shell.nix.

Yea, if NixOS hadn’t tempted me with all the good stuff people are saying about it, I’d probably have stayed with Arch.
