To complete the article, there are two levels of (public) social protection in France.

Unemployment insurance, which pays a percentage of your last salary if you lose your job, for several months.

The RSA, mentioned in the article, which is a survival benefit for people who don’t have/no longer have access to unemployment insurance.

People do their utmost to get back to work before moving from unemployment insurance to the RSA, which is the gateway to extreme poverty.

This measure therefore attacks the weakest of the weak.

Similar measures are being taken all over Europe. There is no more money and there’s no way around it. We should have learned that “welfare state” was a short lived illusion, which lasted but a blink of an eye in the west. Now we’re back to the good ol’ nineteenth century with the second industrial revolution, Oliver Twist and all the rest…

Small palliative measures only serve to extinguish the revolutionary energy in the masses. After decades of propaganda, they started dismantling all the palliative measures little by little (this actually started in the 80s). This is because in capitalism profits always fall. They must squeeze more and more to keep the same rates of profit.

And as people are numb and have no class consciousness nowadays, they can squeeze more and more without much fear. They just preemptively fund the Nazis and keep squeezing. If any small actual revolutionary movement starts up, it’s easy to squash it. You already have a paramilitary anti-revolutionary reactionary force, and the revolutionaries will have limited support due to the masses being numbed etc etc.

They might win the battles, but they will never win the war. If they win in the end, we all lose. There’s no more humanity. There’s no more Earth.
