I only recently switched to Linux / POP!_OS so I’m still getting used to the file types, but what are .cue files generally used for? I don’t think I’ve downloaded .cue files before.
Metadata for lossless music is the main use I’ve seen. It’s not that uncommon to download a lossless album and to just get one huge FLAC file and one cue file to distinguish which parts are which songs.

.cue is kinda like a playlist, but for single files, like full albums or disk images.

Disk images are the most common stuff I’ve seen them used with. In those cases it’s .bin and .cue files
