Here’s your occasional reminder to use FreeTube on your PC or Newpipe on your phone

And SmartTube on your Android TV
I recently switched to FreeTube and am WAY happier, plus I can make everything purple.
Does anyone have any iOS alternatives recommendation ? I’m trying to get the family away from YT too, but they all have iOS for reasons
someone in a group I know asked the same a few weeks ago and the general reply was “No”
iOS ain’t friendly to any kind of 3rd party app
Anyone else have the problem with newpipe that it simply doesn’t work when connected to wifi?
I don’t, I believe one of the piracy instances might be able to help you with the issue better than I

unfortunately, i setup all my accounts on .world which blocks piracy communities.
It’s always been super spotty for me. Sometimes it doesn’t work for a few hours, sometimes for a few days. It usually ends up working again after a bit. I ended up moving to mostly using yt-dlp instead, as it’s more consistent. I don’t know of a more reliable phone-option tho :(
I want them to synchronize my watch history so that each one doesn’t keep listing the videos I already watched in the other.
The whole point of these apps is that they are local, independent from algorithms and YT’s surveillance. If you want to synchronize something, you’ll have to do it manually.
I will use it when google decided to block my adblocker, but for now I kinda need to use yt with my account and I like “mixed playlist” I discovered many great music with it
Revanced has a patched yt music app. No ads, background play, and I use the super mix playlist a lot.
Fo those that prefer Spotify, check out spotube. Available for phone and Google TV.
