Blizzard probably allowed it because Overwatch is bleeding player count, and then can use the union as “proof” that that unions harm the bottom line.

I’m happy for them and I hope they can do something on even across other titles/teams, but I suspect Blizzard didn’t hire the Pinkertons like Amazon for a reason.

Since the other person came in and tried to act cool or something by only caring about how it affects them (or doesn’t affect them?), I just want to put it out there that the OW team has been making lots of improvements to the game lately. The last patch added a new core game mode that has been pretty popular, along with a new hero, and they’ve reimplemented 6v6 which has been a complaint of a large portion of the playerbase since they went to 5v5 a few years ago.

So, contrary to that other person, I am happy for the OW team for unionizing, and I hope that Blizzard doesn’t do anything to stifle the progress that they have been making lately because they have now unionized.

Yeah, the team has been in a good bargaining position because the higher-ups are seeing OW players switching to Marvel Rivals in droves and realizing that they need to start listening to people who actually know what they’re talking about. Props to the team for sensing this is a good time to gain some ground and unionize

Actually, traditionally unions have pretty much universally resulted in better quality products. Union made products usually are crafted by well-paid artisans who apprentice under masters of said craft.

See publicly traded companies only care about short term gains and maximum profit margin. They squeeze from every angle until everything sucks. Fire expensive experts with experience, outsource everything to the cheapest places, lower the quality of the materials, increase the price, milk every IP.

On the other side, union workers want to keep their jobs, and the best way to do that is to make sure people like their products.

They are not “perfect,” but they care about more than profit margins and short term gains.

You don’t have to speculate, my dude.

I’m saying go look up ANY product made by co-ops or unions… whether it’s clothing like Thorogood Boots, or even fucking cheese and dairy makers like Tillamook, unions and employee-owned type outfits just literally make better products.

Hey just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your perspective. I know that unions result, in general, in better working conditions. However me as a customer not only supporting such companies, if I choose so, but also benefitting from better products in general is a nice perspective. food for thought!

Ok. It’s nice that you believe that unionizing is guaranteed to make better products no matter what.

I still think it won’t improve the game as they’ve been listening to the wrong people for too long.

But hey, maybe they can make a new game that’s good.

So you just go and post an off-topic rant, because you feel like those people, whose vast majority works to feed their family, do not deserve to have better working conditions?

Do you even realize how narcissistic you sound like?

Looking at your comment history I’m not really surprised, all you contributions looks like similar to this thread, but I’d like to give you a chance before banning you to keep this community turning toxic because of people like you.

Lol, what? If they want better working conditions, they can work somewhere other than Activision Blizzard, one of the scummiest companies in the world that’s actively contributing to tarnishing the integrity of the medium.

Also, I literally said “Cool” in response to them unionizing, so you’re just straight up lying when you say “you feel like those people, whose vast majority works to feed their family, do not deserve to have better working conditions”

I even clarified by saying what I prioritize.

It’s sad watching you get this mad at me because I said I don’t like a game and then threaten to abuse your power to ban me.

            Seek help.

Sound like someone who never had any difficulty to find work (or do not work at all). Many worker do not have the possibility to easily change work, either because of the lack of similar companies in the vicinity, added to various reason for not being able to easily move home (kids, mortgages, among other). And even when they can, changing company is a jump into the unknown. It can be better, on the start of an even worse nightmare. At least in a company they already know, they have contacts, friends, and now, an union to protect them.

Also, I literally said “Cool” in response to them unionizing, so you’re just straight up lying when you say “you feel like those people, whose vast majority works to feed their family, do not deserve to have better working conditions”

Cool, but it’s not going to make the game any better.

You are right, I’m caricaturing it abit. The problem is that you immediately rant about it not going your way. If you’d really want to congratulate them for that, you wouldn’t immediately go on a rant about yourself immediately. Let’s get another example. Would you say to a friend announcing getting engaged “Cool, but I still can’t get laid”? No you wouldn’t, only a narcissist would.

I even clarified by saying what I prioritize.

That a bit the problem. You prioritize yourself, in a context that has no reason to. We are talking about the employees, not you. Either talk about the topic of the thread, even if you are against it, but don’t drag it to yourself at every occasion.

It’s sad watching you get this mad at me because I said I don’t like a game and then threaten to abuse your power to ban me.

              Seek help.

If I’m that much into banning everyone, I would have done it without giving you a chance of arguing back. The people I banned indefinitely are all spambots or bad faith trolls. Other than that I usually give 3-7 days bans when things go too far, to give people time to self-reflect and join us again on a later date. Considering how well your comments were received by the community, I doubt the community will miss you while your enjoy your alone time.

The real toxicity is from the people responding to me like you lying, calling me a narcissist, and threatening to ban me just to support the dogpile.

I see we don’t have the same definition of toxicity. If you consider that warning you to take a bit of time to self-reflect as toxicity, then you probably don’t have your place in this community.
