The data included names and contacts of government officials, as well as usernames and passwords for the app’s backend.

“I would say the whole process took about 15-20 minutes,” the hacker told the publication. “It wasn’t much effort at all.”

If only they had rules against using personal devices and unapproved software, we could have prevented this.

      “only the best people”…

Who believe that no rule from any authority actually applies to them… Cause they’re too “smart” and they know better.

This is the Israeli one right? Don’t take this the wrong way, but why would anybody use an Israeli “secure” app, when half the time when there is a breach in government systems or ransom ware, it’s usually using a product from an Israeli firm. They have repeatedly sold their software to anybody, regardless if the client is our enemy or not.

They do make very good cybersecurity software though.

But Israel and especially Netan-yayhoo are our best buddies… right?

They would do nothing to harm us…

      /s (if not obvious)

Wow, Signal is end-to-end encrypted and secure, now switching to some random service that stores all their message is mindblowingly stupid

They got shit for being stupid and using a public FOSS app that skirts the law.

It makes a kind of sense they would switch to something worse, because of the aforementioned stupid part.

Why, need a good number to hand out when you aren’t really into someone at the bar and they won’t leave you alone?

I’m assuming they’re in the process of blackmailing the US administration currently

We’ll probably see it after they’ve extorted who they can
