Not to say that everyone that votes for Trump is a Nazi, but we do know who the Nazis are voting for.
Honestly, nobody is the best choice! She’s pretty good!
As an anarchist, I too would prefer Nobody for president.
(But given current practical realities, I hope enough of you Americans cote dem to keep the fascists out)
Grading on curve full of neoliberals, maybe.
I definitely don’t think of her as a neoliberal.
Unfortunately reality doesn’t work like that.
I get so tired of people who just learned a new word without the understanding that the world is WAU too complicated to just hang that word on anything you dislike
Almost as much as people who have their little soliloquies like they’re someone who knows anything at all? And then wraps it up with “but you guys have to live with it not me” ?
Okay buddy liberal.
Not to say that everyone that votes for Kamala is a communist, but we do know who the communists are voting for.
Jill Stein?
Claudia de la Cruz?
Affect.
Yep. Affect is verb; effect is noun. That’s how I remember. Editing text is a major part of my job, and I still sometimes have to step back and use the rule.
And just to head them off, there’s exceptions to rules and I just don’t care about them.
Not to say that everyone that votes for Trump is a Nazi, …
I’ll say it. It’s fascism. It’s been fascism for a long time. People who vote for fascism are fascists.
I did some door knocking with Pence’s former national security advisor last night and got to shoot the shit with her. Never thought I would be doing that.
Suffice to say, she is firmly in the camp of “he’s a fascist,” and according to her, what he says behind close doors is even scarier.
Also, she claims (like other Trump officials) that he doesn’t give 2 shits about his voters behind closed doors. He views them as plebs to con that so he can accumulate more wealth and more power.
I trust Jesus.
Your Jesus didnt protect his flock from the pedophile priests, so “trusting” him now is not going to save you from being violated.
I’m an atheist, and you have a poor level of literacy.
Jesùs?
The number of people downvoting this not realising it’s refering to the username is sad
Edit: just saw the username, never mind. UPVOTE
You trust a figment of your imagination?
That’s quite the statement
Assuming this is true, why didn’t she publicly say any of this right after Biden came to power?
It was Olivia Troye, and she supported Biden in 2020.
100% true, although either way we’re voting in someone who says they will assist in further war crimes. But I guess at least we arent All fascists. So we’ve got that going for us.
The only war crimes you care about are the ones you can use to get fascism elected.
OK? and you evidently dont care about war crimes at all. This isnt about you and me though is it.
Fascism is correct, but Nazism is more accurate.
Although not all fascists believed in biological racism, it played a central role in the actions of those who did. Nazism was viciously racist, especially in its attitude toward Jews.
https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism/Varieties-of-fascism
Yeah. Everyone who votes for Trump absolutely is a Nazi. They’re supporting Orange Hitler.
I’m a broken record today, but please grab a few hours to phone bank or door knock with us today. Phone banking can be done on your couch, and you won’t feel like a POS if the fascists win and you could’ve spent 2 hours after dinner on a Sunday to secure a few more votes.
I would volunteer for a campaign (or even just donate) in a heartbeat… but it’s unethical… I’m one of our nation’s poor, underpaid and overworked local news media staffers. To be clear, I’m not a journalist, but the rules preventing any appearance of impropriety apply to me as well. I can’t give up my job to work pro bono on campaigns (and it’s dubious for me to donate). I can’t have the journalists I work with appear to have any kind of hand on this (or any) election.
I beg you, please vote for Harris/Walz… that’s my personal opinion which does not reflect the stance or opinions of my employer or any of our clients/sponsors… which include the Donald Trump for President 2024 campaign and it’s affiliated PAC’s (honestly it’s wild having the fucking Trump campaign being both the reason I cannot but barely afford my bills and the thing getting me close to paying them). Seriously, the years 2016 to 2020 were a living hell for us working in local news. Fear of constant threats if we depicted “dear leader” in any light other than brilliant magnificence. How dare we report on the things Trump said and did if it looked bad in any way. Seriously… it was the most stressed I’ve been in my entire life and I’m a queer atheist living in the deep south. Also, no, I’m not moving… all my stuff and most of my friends are here.
Plus also make sure to encourage and remind any dem leaning people you know to get out and vote. Friends, family, neighbors, etc it makes more of a difference than you might think
And bring a friend of your phone banking. Grab a beer, have fun with it. It’s not hard and you’re going to be targeting sympathetic voters, not the maga brainwashed.
Also also worth noting that there’s also even phone banking on Tuesday on election day too if you want something to do that day beyond just voting (if you have not yet voted)
For the first time in my life I phone banked for Harris/Walz starting last month. I was expecting to be yelled at by Trumpers but that wasn’t the case. In case anyone is nervous about making the calls, you dont call Trump supporters, you call Dems and Independents to remind them it’s time to vote and how they can get information on voting. I haven’t had any nasty calls yet.
Correct. The calls are very targeted toward helping people correct a ballot that isn’t being counted, or helping / nudging sympathetic voters to get out.
A random volunteer ain’t going to be able to deprogram years of maga propaganda in a 2 minute phone call. Those calls are a waste of time. Turnout calls are more effective.
But how do you get their numbers? Just dial randomly and hang up if the person sounds Republican?
When you volunteer with a campaign, you don’t get the phone numbers and don’t use your actually cell phone. You use a dialer program where the campaign dials and connects you via your computer. So you click a button that says you are ready to do a call, the program then uses their phone system to dial someone in their system and it connects the call to you via your computer. The phone numbers come from wherever campaigns get their lists from.
When you register to vote here, you can have a party affiliation and can give them permission to contact you.
That doesn’t answer the question. Where are the phone numbers?
The dialer software connects to a database with a huge set of phone numbers organized in various ways. The calls are often narrowly targeted - sometimes you are calling to confirm attendance at an event, sometimes you are leaving a scripted message for numbers that are known to always go to voice mail. You don’t do any literal dialing, you press a “next call” button and wait for someone to answer.
Sorry was implying they you provide the information. Also when you move you update your voter registration.
I checked that box but no one contacted me.
I’ve never done the calling or anything like that, but from what I understand they usually put the effort in calling people in battleground states, etc. Could be you live in a state where the effort isn’t worth the reward compared to another state. Or maybe your phone blocks it and considers it all spam. My phone flags all the vote texts as spam, wouldn’t surprise me if it does it for calls too.
In a database that the dialing program has access too.
Hey, I was working solo through a 42-door canvass list when I saw your post, it was encouraging!
Not bad. Any fun people on the list?
Dunno, I’m not a natural at this, so I’m still “decompressing”. I kept thinking of that picture with the kid holding a sign saying “It’s so bad, even the introverts are here!”
lol. I feel ya. I feel like knocking for ballot curing was easier than get out the vote knocking.
People who needed to cure a ballot had already voted, and they just needed to be told to correct something.
Anyone ever have a good experience making or receiving these calls?
The door knocking is definitely more of a positive thing, but I got about 2-3 effective calls in a 2 hour window.
And if you get 50 people in a phone bank, that can translate to 100 ballots cured and or people at the polls.
And when you’re talking about elections that are won by hundreds of votes, that phone time matters.
And probably you should look at your ballot and vote for democratic people like Democratic representatives or local government on the democratic party. When you do that, next election will be easier to win by the Democrats. That way we can take a breather and finally abolish the stupid electoral college. It’s 2024, we can easily vote by phone 🤳. Give people a nice moth to vote on…like July maybe? So they can take a free day to vote when there are no hurricanes or snow pack or whatever bullshit happens in October. And then change over to a new government the next month.
Great in theory, but there are too many people who fellate the god of tradition while stroking the hard-on of American exceptionalism and are unwilling to look at any other example of functioning government.
Great in theory, but there are too many people
This is defeatism and giving up before you even try.
My state recently started allowing early voting, I voted Saturday. This year a minimum wage raise and an attempted pre-emptive ban of RCV proposition were both on the ballot. That old trope about “if you don’t vote you can’t complain” is true and we all have to participate and try to make the changes we want.
It’s not a defeatist attitude because I still make sure to vote in every election and do what I can to move the needle to the left.
A pessimistic attitude, for certain. But I’m still participating to keep the candle of hope burning. I’m not defeated yet.
For fucks sake. Everyone, just vote for a candidate that best represents you, not to cancel another vote. Good luck out there.
I hate living in a swing state. The campaign ads I’ve gotten this year are fucking insane. I keep telling myself “it’ll be over soon.” Also and yes, yes, yes, I voted for harm reduction/prevention… can I get an early break from all the mailers, texts, emails, and ads?
Why is everyone waiting for the perfect choice that will never come?
I’m thinking through the last half dozen presidents and I don’t see how Kamala is far worse than any of them, that people are making comments like this
Lots of reasons, really. Some of them are disenfranchised with the system, some of them are probably part of a Russian campaign, and some of them are just idiots.
No reason to vote for militarized borders, death to the planet, increased police violence and on and on which is what both the democrats and republicans will produce. Organize outside of electoralism.
Perfect is the enemy of good.
Genocide isn’t a good. Further militarizing the border and expanding the violence against immigrants isn’t a good. Continuing police violence isn’t a good. I can keep going.
So vote for the known nazi instead?
Whether you like it or not, one of the two are going to win and run the country. I’d rather try to keep it from being the nazis.
I see, these are the only issues to be concerned about. Yup, that’s it. There is nothing else at all. Well I guess we should just sit on our hands as others bleed. /s
Maybe vote for someone who is more likely to negotiate over these issues. I wonder who is more likely to listen.
There is no indication that either candidate would listen or would have any motivation to listen. Genocide support should be a non starter but you just don’t care I guess.
“And I feel like there’s a lack of listening, and I just feel like I need to bring that up because it affects my life and people I really care about’s life …,” the student added.
“And again, this is about the fact that your voice, your perspective, your experience, your truth cannot be suppressed, and it must be heard. … Our goal should be unity, but not uniformity,” Harris said. “And the point that you’re making about policies that relates to Middle East policy, foreign policy. We still have healthy debates in our country, about what is the right path. And nobody’s voice should be suppressed on that.”

Reversing the tide takes time. Do you want to start now or later?
arms embargo day one is a basic thing anyone going for president who cares about people at all should do at the minimum. Harris is against an arms embargo ergo she doesn’t care about thousands of dead babies thus she should have zero power over anyone.
arms embargo day one is a basic thing anyone going for president who cares about people at all should do at the minimum.
Good luck getting anyone into presidency who would do this. This genocide isn’t a sudden affair, it’s a continued issue that spans decades.
You think we’re gonna solve it in a day?
How long was the Vietnam War? Afghan war? Nearly 20 years, and those were wars where the US was directly involved.
How long has the Israel-Hamas war being going for? Just over a year (if we say it started on 7th Oct 2023).
You want progress? You want the genocide to stop? Then you vote for someone that will lean towards progress. Not voting is the worst thing you can do.
Always vote. https://youtu.be/_gbDAvK42yA?t=197
Reversing the tide takes time
We’ll need 60% more food produced iby 2050, and we’ll be dealing with climate change and increasing water scarcity.
Also large numbers of innocent people are being murdered daily using weapons we provide, with no progress in halting that at all-- in fact the corruption of our government looks to be permanent. We dont have time for slow and steady, and trusting existing systems to change when they are completely captured by foriegn interests is lunacy.
Sweet as, keep on keeping on. I see there is no convincing you.
This is the saddest state of affairs ever. When your campaign is “it could be worse” it’s an insult to the working classes intelligence.
But that’s not the campaign. This is citizens telling other citizens that not casting a vote IS voting - for the obviously worse candidate.
Which you guys have been doing for decades and it has resulted in leftists NEVER getting anything they want.
Honest question…
How is it only and always a vote for the worst candidate, and not a vote for the better candidate? Like, couldn’t Republicans also argue that by not voting, you’re actually voting for Harris? From an objective standpoint, who would be correct?
Because historically the Republicans have had better turnout in swing states. Anger and hyperbole are great motivators, regardless of topic. Democrat-leaning folks tend not to be as angry, scared, and swayed by cult-like leaders, so tend to be more complacent. It’s a matter of trying to even the behavioral playing field. Not to mention the gerrymandering fuckery that has made it even harder for democrats to be fairly represented in crucial geographic areas. Finally, consider where the underhanded tactics are coming from, and rather than sink to that level, an OVERWHELMING and unquestionable show of support is needed for those tactics not to be successful.
Any vote not cast will strengthen the side which is likely to assert a win no matter how badly they lose.
If you’re siding with the more extremist candidate, then you’ve probably made up your mind to vote.
If you haven’t made up your mind yet, then you’re probably doubting about the more moderate candidate. The post is about setting aside those doubts and vote anyway.
It’s person by person. A trumper helps Harris if they stay home.
IF you have a preference between the two major candidates
AND you stay home or vote third party
THEN you have helped the major candidate you dislike
It entirely depends on who you would vote for if pushed to vote for the viable candidates. If you would vote for Harris but don’t vote, it helps Trump because that’s one less vote he needs to beat. If you would vote for Trump but don’t vote, it helps Harris because that’s one less vote she needs to beat. So it’s true for every individual’s worst candidate.
When campaigns/people use this message, they’re usually pretty confident them and the person they’re talking to agree on who is the worst.
1933 Germany would like to have a word with you.
Stop fascism.
Liberals historically enable fascism.
Bruh, Trump has been repeatedly talking about using the military to quiet political dissent.
The only reason you guys have trump in the first place is that liberals block every attempt from leftists to do anything about it.
No, I’d say it’s exactly what we deserve.
Imagine if we had to vote for a national ice cream flavor. It would probably end up being pretty unpalatable for most people, but it’s the only one we can get even a plurality of people to vote for.
It would be vanilla vs literal shit. Everyone would complain about how boring vanilla is. The news would talk about how the literal shit doesn’t smell as bad as you’d think and complain that the vanilla ice cream isn’t even nutritious.
Shit would win with 48% of the vote.
TAKE THE FUCKING VANILLA!
you guys keep equating kamala with “good” and “vanilla”. Genocide’s not vanilla flavored. Its shit flavored.
Nah it’s super easy. Moose tracks 100%
“Moose” polls poorly outside of Maine and Minnesota. “Tracks” alienates truckers who are a significant union.
Please try again.
That’s a factor of our first-past-the-post system. We end up having to strategically vote against the ice cream we don’t want instead of for the ice cream we do want.
As someone who likes teaberry ice cream I don’t think anything other than anarchy will get me that flavor.
With anarchy you have to get yourself that flavor and make everyone else eat it too. It would still be easier to do in a democracy.
That is not anarchy.
It is based on your analogy. There wouldn’t be a national ice cream flavor in a stateless society definitionally speaking.
Yes, but that doesn’t mean everyone gets what I want. It means I find my tiny group of teaberry enjoyers and we make our own teaberry ice cream because that’s what we like.
Democracy is everyone taking a vote and me and my comrades not getting teaberry ever because there’s not enough of us to have any power.
It’s a sad state of affairs when a politician that cares about her country isn’t enough to get people to vote against a literal fascist who fantasizes about being a dictator.
God Americans are easily propagandized.
The “it could be worse” is “US is having a president who’s fine with using military action against his political opponents”, aka dictatorship.
Not just military action. Vigilantism and pardons. I’m waiting for him to make it clear that if you’re going to murder someone who opposes Trump, make sure to transport them across state lines, so that it’s a federal crime that he can pardon you for.
They’ve drank the Koolaid for a better dystopia. It’s been forcefed to the nation.
Best and also only choice to beat a Nazi
If Kamela wins, she MUST reorganize the US political system. She’ll be the no limits president, Supreme Court said so, she can do whatever she wants.
Cut the shit with the electoral college. Just direct voting
No more winner takes all. The US needs 30 political parties, not two
Get rid of unlimited terms for any government office, especially for the supreme Court
Just three basic things, but the real list is much, much longer.
If Trump wins then it doesn’t matter, you’ll be living in a dictatorship for the rest of your miserable lives…
None of those things is within the authority of the President to do.
Good stuff, but I dont see that she is a reformer type of politician.
American authocracy at its finest… I agree one should vote, and not for Trump. But this poster is disheartening…
Kamela votes nullify Trump votes, Stein votes are basically the same as not voting at all.
Our fascist is better than their fascist!
I am voting but I could throw my president vote right in the trash and it’d have the same effect thanks to the electoral college. The local shit I’m voting on will potentially have a bigger impact.
