Hello, I am looking to buy a new laptop, and I noticed that the GIGABYTE G5 with rtx 3060 is currently at available at a very good price for me at ~900$. I cannot find a similar specced device for that price anywhere. Is it good enough to buy, or should I wait for another better deal?

Also is amazon safe for this?

If it’s in your price range and has the hardware you want what more info do you need?

Re: Amazon being safe—it’s entirely dependent on the seller. The product listing will tell you who you’re buying from.

Too many unknowns without seeing a product link.

In my experience waiting for better deals is a losing battle. Tech is always gonna fluctuate in price and sometimes good brands will put out trash and bad brands will put out golden nuggets all while new chips come out that make older components out dated.

I would say as a baseline, see what the individual components would cost if you were building the pc from scratch using pc part picker or the myriad other tools out there, then add like $300 (or more) for laptop tax (but hey, don’t need to buy a monitor for a laptop). That will tell you if the price is good.

I do not know about that brand’s general build quality but prebuilt machines are always going to skimp on parts and up charge where they can. All of that is kind of out the window since you’re looking to get a laptop. So again, boils down to: does it have the gpu / cpu and storage you want and in your price range? Then sure—get it. Or wait another year and get a newer machine that will cost probably slightly more for marginally better performance.

Finally check your expectations: just because it’s a pc doesn’t mean you’ll be running every game at ultra settings.

TLDR: 1) waiting for deals is a losing game 2) price out the parts and expect to pay more by nature of it being a laptop (don’t forget to factor in case, cooling, keyboard, mouse and monitor in comparing cost of desktop to laptop builds).

It might be cheaper waiting to black friday time or checking out slickdeals to buy a budget gaming laptop if you can wait. The Gigabyte G5 KC 3060rtx I bought off amazon in early 2022 for $999.00 for my nephew seems to be doing fine so $100 off is decent. The G5 w/ 4060 is $879 on amazon right now but only has 8GB ram and people complaining about the charger.
