It’s kind of silly, but it makes me happy to discover that I’m not the only one that gets all protective and paternal when a new player crosses my path.

      Hi!

I am sure you are far from the only one. There are many people that I saw specifically say that they were going to welcome all of the new people coming into the hobby.

I made this meme partly because there are some people out there who feel differently, and I wanted to specifically called out the site for being so friendly.

Several months ago, I saw an article in an unnamed sub that basically said the gatekeeping was good. Because if we just let anybody play this game that we love, it will change.

In the post actually said, remember not to cast your pearls before swine.

      🧐

No, everybody on the thread disagreed with the person and they got downvoted to Hell .

But I can’t imagine anybody on this site saying anything like that.

Because, of course, the games that we love will change if new people play them.

      Thats life.

      https://poets.org/poem/children-1

      Kahlil Gibran 1883 – 1931

And a woman who held a babe against her bosom said, Speak to us of Children.

And he said: Your children are not your children.

They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself.

They come through you but not from you,

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts, For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls, For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday. You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far.

      Let your bending in the archer’s hand be for gladness;

For even as He loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

      🙏❤️
