    In parallel they also have a stranglehold on the venues so they get to decide what bands are even worthy of having concerts at all… yay capitalism gives us so much freedom

      You know what’s funny about it? In Russia there’s been several cases recently with concerts getting canceled and the artists supposedly blacklisted due to their positions regarding Ukraine. This is of course decried in the media as “le ebil sovok putler stomping on freedom”.

      But what you describe? Either ignored as not happening, or approved because “free market”. Just make your own concert hall, brah!

    What’s really insane is that you aren’t getting any extra value for these high prices. You’re getting maybe two hours in a gigantic venue and watching the performance on a screen.

    The concentration at the top is absurd. You can say the same thing about the wages of top actors. The sad thing is. People still buy 908$ Taylor tickets.
