Isaac Asimov back in the 80ties: “There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

The big problem with this is that most book publishers will accept any standards imposed upon them by the state of Texas in order to not lose the business of the enormous number of books purchased by their school systems. This has the effect of censoring textbook publishers for textbooks that are sold nation-wide across the US. The vast majority of US school children learn a curriculum that was decided in Texas.

And that kind of explains a lot about our various political crises, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately, no. They’re doing this so they can indoctrinate more whackjobs.

That is somewhat true, however, they are doing both while slowly reducing their numbers. The pew research suggests that and multiple interviews with church leaders also does. Many in the younger generation are not stupid. They see this shit and their hypocrisy. This is why they are trying to remove it from the books, but these days, with the internet and AI, it will likely be a failure on their part.
