It’s fucking wild that the biggest news we’ve had about a highly anticipated game since it was announced six years ago is that an artist working on it left his pinterest public

ES6 for sure. It doesn’t matter how long it takes Bethesda, Bethesda aren’t currently getting paid for it while SC continues to rake in utterly unjustified wads of cash on a vast scale

      And Metroid Prime 4.

Like why announce stuff if they haven’t even gotten anything to show? 6 months before launch and start the hype train. That seems like a decent lead time,

I work in a very adjacent industry, you don’t announce shit early to build hype, you announce it early to shut media the fuck up about “is (business) doing anything?”, “is (business) struggling? (small side project) is not nearly as impressive as (major project released like less than a year ago)”, and to keep investors (who read those garbage articles) happy.

Neither the project teams nor the fans like this system, but the issue is either we feed the news cycle with speculation on the Next Big Thing™️, or let them beat us with a stick until something new comes out.

God, silksong is such a tease. Every time I see it mentioned or see a clip I always get excited, only to end up puting on my clown shoes and nose :(

One day I’ll have you my sweet shaw, one day…

Well, in the case of Silksong specifically, an early announcement was all but inevitable, as it was originally a stretch goal that got turned into its own game. Even with their apparent preference towards minimal communication, they had to explain what’s happening if they didn’t want to appear like fraudsters.

Generally, I wouldn’t even be opposed to early announcements, as long as the devs were transparent about the status of the project and made it clear in which capacity the game is currently being worked on.

My kid has been into HK (as spectator) since age 4. By the time this game comes out, he probably won’t even live with me.

Guys I’m announcing a game that will be ready in the year 7165451849948654 for early access, with full release expected some time after the heat death of the universe if all goes to plan. So far I have like 6 lines of code that say “hello world” in 4 different ways (2 of them don’t work yet).

Pre order now. If you aren’t hyped yet are you even a gamer?
