MBition, the company that designs and implements infotainment systems for Mercedes-Benz, has become a KDE patron.
MBition uses KDE technologies and developers’ know-how to create attractive and responsive interfaces that make Mercedes vehicles easier to drive and safer for their occupants.
@[email protected] @[email protected] “Plasma doesn’t crash, so our cars” would be a good slogan
Can you explain it?
@can there were jokes about Plasma crashing a lot when KDE4 had been released
That’s cool
I’m glad they see the value of KDE

So… we can expect BMW to support @gnome then? 🤔
🤡KDE is based in Germany, just like Mercedes and BMW. GNOME is based in the US, so they should instead get sponsored by General Motors or Ford to keep the rivalry going.
KDE has an office in Germany for administrative purposes, but its base is worldwide. As a non-profit charity, we have rivalries with no-one.
@alfajet @kde @[email protected] BMW is using a bunch of our frameworks already and do occasionally some contributions: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/bluez-qt/-/commit/1a5660ab1547236c7bc0f883bbbb039889489a22
@carlschwan @[email protected] @[email protected] this was meant to be a little rivalry joke (Merc/BMW) vs (Gnome/KDE).
Good to know though! 😀
